Love Language Therapy was formed to bridge the gap between culturally diverse, medically complex, and neurodiverse populations. We support families, children, and adults by providing healthcare knowledge and everyday communication help. As experts in listening, learning, and communication, we utilize natural and evidence-based practices. We are here to help our patients set goals to speak their love language.

Meet the Team:
Sadia Akhtar
Pediatric/Geriatric
Speech Language Pathologist
Sadia is the owner and founder of Love Language Therapy who works with infants, school-aged children/adolescents, and adults. Sadia has practiced in rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, homes, educational settings, telemedicine, and community-based settings. Sadia works with complex communicators including, children with congenital syndromes, autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, cleft palate, cortical visual impairment, auditory processing difficulties, and hearing loss. She is experienced in treating adults with speech, reading, writing, and language loss due to brain injury, head and neck cancer, Parkinson’s, and dementia.
Specialized training
She is Level II certified in Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). She holds advanced training and coursework in lactation, Gender Affirming Voice Therapy (Transgender Voice), dementia management, child abuse, and alternative/augmentation communication (AAC). Sadia is registered as a Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImp) Clinician. She has completed coursework for Supervision & Mentoring. Sadia is a Lingraphica Certified and AbleNet Trained Technology Specialist. She is certified in Professional Crisis Management (PCM) for behavioral disorders. Sadia is a certified healthcare project manager.

Licensure
Sadia is licensed by the state of New Jersey, and is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) with her Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC). She is a member of the ASHA Cultural & Linguistic Diversity Special Interest Group. She is a registered Limited Liability Company (LLC) in the State of New Jersey.
Education
Sadia holds a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) from University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, FL. She completed a research assistantship at Arizona State University, as well as a teaching assistantship and independent research from UCF. Sadia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences from Kean University, with double minors in American Sign Language and Psychology. She started her assistant teaching and research experience from Kean.

About Sadia
Sadia’s passion lies in working with families and caregivers. She believes that language, specifically in group settings, is the key to holistic healing and rehabilitation. Sadia facilitates support groups, play groups, and social groups focused on improving quality of life and generalization of skills in varied environments. She works with multilanguage users, not limited to but including: Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, ASL, and Spanish-speaking individuals.

Sadia started a pro-bono caregiver support group for Alzheimer's NJ in Burlington County.
​
Sadia's research interests include: health literacy, multicultural populations, caregiver burden, hearing loss, language and cognition, disability advocacy, caregiver training, co-morbid conditions, oral-motor impairments, & social-emotional implications.

Sadia's hobbies include: hiking National Parks, writing poetry, meditation, volunteering, roadtrips, film photography, live music, home decor, and art collecting.
